Christina Williams and Emeline McCaleb accept their awardFor the first time in the history of Cape Fear Academy, two teams of four students qualified for the National History Day Competition from June 9-16 in Washington, DC by taking first place in two categories: Senior Group Exhibit and Senior Group Website. The Senior Group Exhibit Team also won the North Carolina State History Special Award.
The Senior Group Exhibit was titled Loray Mill Strike and the team that created it consisted of Sally Crouch, Sarah Schneider, Breanne Elrod and Brie Butler. The Senior Group Website was titled The Celluloid Revolution; Wilmington and the Making of Hollywood East. Students working on this project were Emeline McCaleb, Christina Williams, Savannah Cornwell and Maddie Mihle.
Seventeen students from Cape Fear Academy attended the competition at the state level on April 27 in Raleigh.
