Yoga Kids
For young and old alike, yoga has long been known as a form of exercise that offers a variety of health benefits. Not only does yoga increase flexibility, balance and strength, but it also reduces stress, evokes relaxation, improves coordination and heightens concentration skills. The practice of yoga can be particularly beneficial for children as they navigate through the increasing stresses of school, sports, busy schedules, hectic parents, and peer pressure.
Yoga provides all ages of children with an outlet through which they can gain self-esteem and body awareness without the added expectations of competitive sports. Learning the techniques of deep breathing and practicing extended focus are both skills that can benefit children in their studies. In so many ways, yoga helps children feel better about themselves, both physically and mentally, while having lots of fun in the process.
