Anne Grall Reichel
Expect More book
To ensure the long-term success of children, a new book is shedding light on the importance of continuing to embrace learning as adults.
In Expect More: Children Can Do Remarkable Things, Dr. Anne Grall Reichel provides concrete examples and practical strategies for both parents and teachers to use in engaging children and maximizing the overall potential of the education system. Aiming to highlight the continuum of student growth, Grall Reichel’s overall goal is to invite every adult to regenerate the entrepreneurial spirit in children. She believes that perseverance, the willingness to embrace a challenge and the skills children need to be critical consumers of information are, at best, endangered.
“Over time, it’s easy to gravitate toward simply enabling children rather than challenging them,” says Grall Reichel. “But the struggle is essential to their growth and sense of accomplishment, building their confidence and helping them to embrace new challenges.”
As an educational consultant, Grall Reichel strives to help teachers work toward creating curriculum that builds critical thinking and problem solving skills. With Expect More, she hopes to specifically touch on science and social studies, the subject areas that are often shortchanged in current testing climates. Addressing the fact that expectations of children should coincide with adult practices and behavior, Expect More serves as an ongoing guide in continuing to set the bar for future success.
“This book really aims to encourage adults to model their own passion for learning new things,” says Grall Reichel. “Children desperately need to see that. We need to expect more of ourselves as adults in order to expect it of our children.”
