kids cleaning
Household cleaning is typically a task that is not appealing to anyone. However, enlisting the help of your kids and making cleaning fun for them can save you time. Here are some tips that are sure to motivate your kids to help in cleaning:
- Play beat the timer. Give kids a specific task to do and see if they can do it before the timer goes off. For younger children, make sure the task is simple such as 'put all your stuffed animals in a basket'. Usually just beating the timer gives them satisfaction but you can always give a small treat as well!
- Dance while you work. I remember that my Mom always had music on every Saturday when it was time to clean the house. To this day I still have the music on when I am in serious cleaning mode. Choose an album or a playlist of songs that your kids enjoy and "whistle while you work".
- Play match the picture. Take a picture of certain areas of your child's room or play room when they are cleaned and organized. Print those pictures out for a reference for your child. When they are cleaning those spaces challenge them to make the area look exactly like the picture.
- Give kids their own tools. My 4 year old daughter has a purple sponge and a spray bottle of vinegar water to use whenever we clean the kitchen. Whether it's a cool scrub brush or a pair of colorful rubber gloves, giving kids their own tools can get them excited about cleaning.
- Stick to a routine to make cleaning simpler. Determine a time each evening to clean up the toys and supplies that were used during the day. If this is done each day clean-up should never be a tough task.
