crispy french toast
I am always trying to create new recipes using ingredients that I have in my refrigerator and pantry. This recipe came about when I had leftover eggnog and crispy rice cereal. I decided to put a new spin on an old family favorite, French toast. The result was delicious! Here is the recipe for Crispy Holiday French Toast.
Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 4 slices of bread
- 1 1/2 cups of crisp rice cereal (crushed)
- 1/2 cup eggnog
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- powdered sugar (optional)
Directions
- Place 1 tablespoon butter in an electric skillet and heat to 350 degrees.
- Mix together eggnog, eggs and cinnamon. Pour into a shallow dish.
- Place crushed crisp rice cereal into a shallow dish.
- Dip both sides of one slice of bread into the eggnog mixture.
- Dredge the bread through the rice cereal. Be sure to coat both sides.
- Place bread into hot skillet.
- Repeat steps 4-6 for the remaining pieces of bread.
- Cook bread on each side for 4-5 minutes until it is a nice golden brown.
- Remove from the skillet and lightly dust with powdered sugar (optional).
