Pita Pizzas
October is National Pizza Month. To honor this celebration of a favorite American food, why not work together as a family to make personal pizzas? Choose a wheat base and low-fat toppings for a healthy meal everyone will enjoy!
Personal Pizza
Ingredients:
- Pita Bread or Flatbread (whole wheat)
- Tomato Sauce (this can be pizza or pasta sauce)
- Low-fat mozzarella cheese
- Veggies (any kind you like)
- Lean Protein (left-over chicken works well)
Directions:
- Pre-heat oven to 425 degrees.
- Warm the base (pita or flatbread) in the pre-heated oven or in the microwave oven for 1 minute or until it is softened.
- Spread tomato sauce lightly on the base.
- Place veggies and lean protein on top of the sauce.
- Sprinkle lightly with low-fat mozzarella.
- Bake in the preheated oven 8-10 minutes.
- Remove from the oven, slice and serve!
