Family Restaurant Review: Bdobo Mongolian Grill
Yelp/Starr C.
Bdobo Mongolian Grill
Looking for a quick but healthy meal, my family and I decided to visit Bdobo Mongolian Grill for a Friday night meal. We arrived at about 7pm and were seated immediately. The waiter arrived quickly and took our drink, rice and soup orders. Then, we were on our way to crafting our own meals. The restaurant is set up so that customers can choose from a variety of vegetables, proteins and sauces and then have the chef cook your selections on a hot grill.
Atmosphere
Upon entering the restaurant, diners will recognize an understated Eastern theme. There are a few pictures on the walls of one dining room and some Asian-inspired art pieces, while the other dining room has richly painted walls and ambient lighting. The smell of the food being cooked in one dining room fills the entire restaurant with a pleasant scent.
Affordability
Bdobo offers all-you-can-eat meals for a very reasonable price. For around $10, an adult can eat dinner and children can eat for about $5. The price is a few dollars less for lunch. Considering that the meal comes with rice, soup, sesame flat bread and all-you-can-eat grilled veggies and meat, it is a great value for dinner.
Food Quality
The meal started off with freshly baked sesame flatbread which I found to be delicious, especially when I dipped it into my hot and sour soup. The other soup option is egg drop. Rice is also brought to the table quickly and you can choose from white rice or fried rice. It is nice to have the rice brought out early so that when you arrive back to your table with your freshly grilled food, you can add as much or as little rice as you’d like to your entrée.
There was a decent variety of options as far as vegetables and meats were concerned and everything seemed fresh. I actually saw the chef switch out bins for more fresh food several times. There are nine different sauces and it is suggested to choose several to make for a tastier dish. This may be a little confusing to some since there are no directions on how to make a certain flavor combination.
At the conclusion of the meal, fresh orange slices and fortune cookies are brought out. I really liked the oranges as a palate cleaner and my daughter thought the combination of them with the fortune cookie made for a great dessert.
Entertainment
Entertainment in the restaurant consists of a television in each dining room and the chance to watch the chef cook your food on the Mongolian style grill. One of the perks of this type of restaurant is that children don’t have to wait for food so there is less need to entertain them.
Family Conveniences
There are high chairs and booster seats for the smallest diners. Seating options are available for large families by pushing tables together. The only family convenience not present was a changing table in the restroom.
Overall Impression
I feel that eating healthy is very important and I like restaurants that promote that with the food they serve. Also, when children can choose their own veggies, I find they seem to eat more. We will definitely return to Bdobo when we need a quick, healthy meal.
