Lincoln Logs
Lincoln Logs have been around since 1916 when John Lloyd Wright, son of famous architect Frank Lloyd Wright, invented them. The idea for these wooden building blocks came to Wright while observing the building techniques used to construct the Imperial Palace Hotel in Tokyo which was designed by his father.
Lincoln Logs were named in honor of Abraham Lincoln who began his life in a log cabin in Kentucky.
While many toys have changed from their classic form into different materials, Lincoln Logs have always been made of real wood. Each log is precision cut and then placed in a tumbler for a smooth finish that is also splinter-free. The logs are then treated with a stain to preserve the life of the wood.
Wilmington Parent is pleased to be giving away a set of Lincoln Logs. The set contains 86 pieces of interlocking building materials in a collectable tin. The Frontier Cabin is only one of many possible structures that can be built with this set. This set is recommended for children 3 and older.
