TheatreNOW, opening Friday, July 13, is the Cape Fear Region’s first dedicated dinner theatre arts complex, featuring weekend productions, children's programming, a Sunday Jazz/Gospel Brunch and movie events providing family-friendly entertainment in a theatre themed venue for the enjoyment of locals and tourists alike.
Located at 19 S. 10th Street in historic downtown Wilmington, TheatreNOW is a new facility with state-of-the-art audiovisual, lighting and production technology, as well as a fully equipped kitchen, to produce top quality dinner shows.
According to the theatre’s owner, Alisa Harris, TheatreNOW is harnessing the talents of local writers and actors to present a variety of productions that will run on a regular basis throughout the year.
Tickets are currently on sale for this season’s shows:
- Dawson Hill’s Miracle Workers (Comedy Dinner Theatre – Fridays at 6pm) Theatre guests will witness the behind the scenes antics as Dawson Hill’s actors have gone missing and it’s up to the stage crew to put on the show at the last minute.
- Super Saturday Fun Time (Children’s Theatre Production – Saturdays at 11am) An interactive kid’s adventure show with lunch! Join DOCK, the dog, and his two-legged friends as they uncover mysteries and discover artifacts based on local history.
- Murder at the Bellamy Mansion (Interactive Murder Mystery Dinner Theatre –Saturdays at 6pm) Guests are invited to this year’s Wilmington Historical Attractions and Tours (WHAT) awards banquet at the stately Bellamy Mansion and find that history can be dangerous. Audience chooses a detective to help solve the mystery.
- Sunday Jazz Gospel Brunch (Sundays from 10am-2pm) Local jazz and gospel musicians, Marc Siegel and Friends entertain while families and friends enjoy a traditional southern brunch buffet.
- Movie Night (Sundays at 6:30pm; check website for weekly movie listings) The big screen drops down on the TheatreNOW stage for a weekly movie event with the kitchen open for some tasty treats.
