Brunswick County Schools
The Brunswick County Board of Education is seeking direct input from interested members of the community to help shape the search process and assist in defining the qualities and characteristics of the next superintendent of the Brunswick County Schools (BCS).
The Board invites parents and community members to participate in a short community survey that can be accessed and completed online by clicking the survey link on the main BCS webpage. A Spanish-language version of the survey is available as well. Paper copies of the surveys will be available at the BCS central office at 35 Referendum Drive in Bolivia, in the front office at each school site, and at all BCS regular board of education meetings. All surveys must be completed by Friday, January 23, 2015 with results to be compiled, summarized, and presented by the North Carolina School Boards Association (NCSBA) at the regular board meeting on February 3, 2015.
In addition, all employees of Brunswick County Schools will have an opportunity to complete a separate online staff survey or a paper copy if preferred. Details about completing the employee version of the search survey will be communicated via school system email.
Community members are also invited to comment publicly on desired characteristics for the next leader of schools during the public comment period at two upcoming board meetings, scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 6 and Tuesday, February 3. Citizens must sign up to speak before each meeting begins and limit comments to five minutes or less, in accordance with Board Policy 2310. Any individual who desires to speak must notify Jill Eubanks at 910-253-1082 by 12:00 noon on the working day prior to the Board of Education meeting. Individuals desiring to speak should include their name, address, telephone number, and topic for speaking so that information will be available after the Board meeting for follow-up, if appropriate.
In addition to input received from the surveys and public comment opportunities, written statements from any local groups or organizations may be submitted to Allison Schafer via mail at NCSBA, P.O. Box 97877, Raleigh, NC 27624, via email at aschafer@ncsba.org, or via fax at 919-841-4020. These statements should be received no later than Friday, January 23, 2015.
