Coupon binder
Clipping coupons is only part of the equation when it comes to saving money on your grocery bill. To make sure you are getting the most out of your coupons, you must keep them organized. There are many methods of coupon organization, but today I am going to focus on making a coupon binder.
First, you will need a binder. I reccomend getting one that you can zip closed so that coupons won't fall out. These can be found at office suppy stores and retail stores such as Wal-Mart and Target in the business/school supplies aisles. It's great to find a binder that has pockets in it so that you can store coupons you haven't organized yet.
Next, you will need to get dividers. Decide how you want to organize your coupons (possibly by category or how the aisles are arranged in the stores). Label your dividers with the categories you have determined you need. Some examples are: dairy, frozen, cereal, canned items, snack items, drinks, etc. Once your dividers are labeled, insert them into your binder.
Finally, get some plastic pocket sheets (like the ones used to organize baseball cards). It's best to get a variety of these sheets that hold different sized items so that different sized coupons will fit into your binder.
Once you have these 3 items, you can place your coupons in the correct location in your binder based on your categories. It's best to make sure to place coupons that expire first at the top of each page so that you can use them first.
You can also print out the store coupon policies of the stores you shop at to keep in a pocket in your binder as a quick reference.
If you like the idea of the coupon binder but don't have the time to make one, there are several companies that sell these binders as a complete couponing system. A good one to check out is www.couponmagicorganizer.com
