running-shoes
Choosing the right shoe for your foot is a very important step, whether you are running, walking, doing exercise classes, or simply on your feet a lot throughout the day. Improper footwear can cause your whole body to be out of alignment leading to all sorts of injuries or aches and pains. To avoid these types of problems, or to help alleviate them, it is important that you have someone properly fit you for the right show.
Shoes are generally placed into four broad categories:
- Stability,
- Motion Control,
- Neutral, and
- Natural (Minimal),”
Each is based on the level of support and correction they provide.
Omega Sports suggests an in-depth foot analysis to make sure you purchase a shoe that will fit your needs. Initially, we measure your foot with the Brannock Device to test your arch flexibility and approximate your shoe size (different brands vary in fit.) From there we will perform a “video gait analysis,” where the customer will walk or lightly run, barefoot, on the treadmill for about 30 seconds while being video taped from the knee down. We are then able to sit down with the customer and play the recording back frame-by-frame to explain what we see, ranging from heavy impact points to rolling of the foot (pronation). Afterwards, we can walk over to the shoe wall and recommend the appropriate shoes.
Our shoe wall is labeled into categories based on different attributes of the shoes. We typically recommend a minimum of three different shoes for the customer to try in order to see what works best. Once a comfortable shoe is found, we can once again do a treadmill recording to make sure the shoe corrected the problem.
Once a selection has been made, you may want to sign up to receive our mobile text coupons or our e-mail coupons, because generally you can save a good deal off of your current and future purchases! If problems persist or arise, our staff will be happy to do whatever we can to help.
