Living near the beach, I have tried many different organic sunscreens in the hopes that I could find one that I liked so much that I wouldn't mind using it year-round. I always use a spray-on sunscreen for my body and a lotion for my face. I usually hate putting organic sunscreens on my face because they tend to be thick and feel greasy and heavy. However, this summer I found a great line of sunscreens from a company called Coola that feel great while protecting very well.
Coola is a company based in California that makes sun care products using ingredients that are organic, sustainable and locally sourced. They offer products for people of all ages including a mineral sunscreen for babies with an SPF of 50.
This summer, I tried their Citrus Mimosa Sunscreen Spray, the Cucumber Matte Finish mineral sunscreen for faces and the Liplux (a moisturizing lip treatment). Coola was my go-to sunscreen this summer and I didn't get a sunburn one time.
I enjoyed the smell and feel of the Citrus Mimosa Sunscreen Spray. I was happy to know that the scent came from natural sources and the sunscreen is 97% organic. The Cucumber Matte Finish sunscreen was the most impressive organic lotion I have ever used. Not only did it protect my face, it felt amazing going on. It was so silky and easy to rub in that I felt like I was putting a light layer of powder on my face. I would certainly wear this product and the Liplux all year round to protect my face and lips.
The only downside to these wonderful products is the price. The 6 ounce sunscreen is $32, the face sunscreen is $36 for 1.7 ounces and the Liplux is $12. Even though this may seem pricey, the products have lasted all summer and I still have plenty of face sunscreen and Liplux. If what you put on your body is as important as what you put in your body, the extra cost may be worth it!
