Amazon Fire TV
Many families have made the transition from cable and satellite providers to streaming devices for their television viewing entertainment while some families have added streaming devices to their current television services to have access to additional programing on demand.
My family decided to try out the Amazon Fire TV to see if this streaming device could enhance our entertainment options.
When the device first arrived, I immediately loved its small size. Considering the fact that we already have a DirecTV box, a DVD player and a Wii console placed in different locations around the television, it was nice to not have to worry about placing something else large nearby. The remote is also very compact.
Set-up was a simple process. Basically, all I had to do was plug the Amazon Fire TV box into the television and follow the prompts on the screen. The device was completely installed and ready for use within 5 minutes. Having an Amazon Prime membership allowed us access to hundreds of shows and movies for free and many more that can be purchased. If you enjoy watching older movies and television shows, Amazon Prime is a great service to have. We also wanted access to original shows and newer movies so we added Netflix.
The Amazon TV has an excellent search feature using the remote control. Users simply have to hold down the microphone button and speak the name of the show or movie they wish to see. This is one of my favorite features of the device.
Once you have watched a few shows and movies, the device will automatically set up recommendations on the home screen for future viewings.
Fire TV can also be used as a gaming device, to stream music and also to view photos stored on Amazon Cloud.
Amazon Fire TV is a great addition to our entertainment options. My 5 year old daughter enjoys many children's programs on Amazon Prime, while my husband and I have been enjoying original series on Netflix.
