Cape Fear Museum
star party
For this year’s NC Science Festival Statewide Star Party, Cape Fear Museum is teaming up with Carolina Beach State Park and Cape Fear Astronomical Society to host the 2014 Star Party at Carolina Beach State Park. As the official kickoff event to the annual North Carolina Science Festival this Star Party will coincide with other Star Parties happening across the state. It’s an event not to be missed!
As this year’s Star Party focus is on the Moon, Cape Fear Astronomical Society will offer telescope viewings of the Moon, as well as stars, planets, and other celestial objects. Cape Fear Museum will bring the Starlab planetarium and present mini-shows. Participants can also build “moon-phasers,” enjoy “moon-dances,” and investigate a Magic Planet digital video globe display of the Moon and other celestial bodies.
The NC Science Festival’s annual Statewide Star Party is made possible through the generous support of the NC Space Grant.
The Star Party is on Saturday, April 5 from 7:30-10 pm at Carolina Beach State Park (1010 State Park Rd., Carolina Beach). Admission to the event is free and open to the public. Attendees are asked to bring a flashlight.
